Solving: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable

No need to worry, I've encountered the error message "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable" before, and I resolved the issue with my corrupted drive using the chkdsk cmdlet by doing the following:

CHKDSK is a system tool and command in DOS, that checks the file system integrity of a volume and attempts to fix logical file system errors.

Steps

  1. Run Command Prompt as Administrator.
    run cmd as administrator
  2. Type this cmdlet "chkdsk /f YourDriveLetter:", in your case, it's drive "D".

     chkdsk /f D:

    The drive is not accessible

  3. Allow the command line process to complete, and then attempt to access your drive, which should now be accessible.
