Codespaces is a configurable cloud development environment available in your browser on GitHub or through Visual Studio Code, it includes everything developers need to develop for a specific repository, including the Visual Studio Code editing experience and common languages, tools, and utilities.

Below are the most frequently asked questions about GitHub Codespaces

1) Are GitHub Codespaces Free?

Codespaces is currently in public beta, and is free to use until that time. If you'd like to join the beta, you can request access at Sign up for the Codespaces beta

2) Is GitHub Codespaces available to everyone? 

Codespaces will be available to a small group of GitHub users while in limited beta. Over time, more users will have access to the beta based on availability and sign up date.

3) Is GitHub Codespaces available for Private Repo?

Currently, the Codespaces beta will not be available for private repositories that belong to organizations. However, it will be available for repositories you own and public repositories.

4) Can I use GitHub Codespaces in VS code?

Yes, you can do that by opening the codespace in GitHub and then connect to it in VS Code.
