I am part of a growing organization using Microsoft Teams, and my IT admin informs me that they are adding members to a key team. However, they are concerned about the maximum number of members allowed.

So my queston is What is the maximum number of members allowed in a single team in Microsoft Teams?

Members Limits in a Team in Microsoft Team

The maximum number of members allowed in a single Microsoft Teams team is 25,000. This limit includes both owners and members of the team.

Considerations for large teams:

  • Teams with a very high number of members may experience slower performance, particularly when managing team membership or interacting with files and conversations.
  • Organize members into smaller, manageable channels within the team for focused collaboration.
  • Utilize moderation tools to maintain effective communication in large teams.
  • Ensure you have adequate permissions set up to manage the team effectively.

Microsoft regularly updates its limits, so it's good practice to check the latest documentation for any changes.

If you don’t ask, the answer is always NO!
