The Microsoft Team desktop app was working properly and suddenly, I got this error message "You don't have access to the org in Teams. Select another org, or contact your admin".

You don't have access to the org in Teams. Select another org, or contact your admin for more details

I am sure I am a member of my organization and not a guest user, also I can log in to other organizations using Microsoft Teams Desktop App.

I also contacted the global admin and he confirmed that there is no issue with my permission and I am still a member of my organization.

The global admin did the following:

  1. Checked all the assigned policies.
  2. Reset my password.

From my side, I tried the following:

  1. Try the Microsoft Teams on the Web and I got this error To re-enable the application the tab needs to be refreshed
  2. Cleared the Microsoft Teams Desktop cache.
  3. Try another device and still getting the same error "You don't have access to the org in Teams"

Anyone who encountered the same error can help me to sign in to my organization without getting this error "You don't have access to the org in Teams. Select another org, or contact your admin"!

How to solve "You don't have access to the org in Teams"?

I faced this issue "You don't have access to the org in Teams. Select another org, or contact your admin" with one of my colleagues in my organization, and after a long investigation process on the user permission and other settings, I finally figure it out, the issue in my case was mainly related to the assigned Product Licenses for this user.

Steps

To fix You don't have access to the org in Teams. Select another org, or contact your admin, you have to do the following:

  1. As A global admin, login to Microsoft Admin Center at https://admin.microsoft.com/
  2. From the left side, click on "Users" > "Active Users".
Manage active users in Microsoft 365
  3. Search for your user who encounters this error.
  4. Select this user and from the above toolbar, click on "Manage Product Licenses".
manage product license for a user in Microsoft 365
  5. Make sure that you have assigned the proper license that includes Microsoft Teams.
  6. Click Save Changes.
Assign a user in your organization a Microsoft Teams license

    Note:
    - If the current user has already assigned to the correct license, try to uncheck the assigned license and recheck it again.
    - This action may take from 10 minutes to 24 hours to get applied.

Microsoft Teams Exploratory license

If your organization doesn't have a plan that includes a license for Microsoft Teams, you can use the Microsoft Teams Exploratory license to let your organization users who have Azure Active Directory and aren't licensed for Teams initiate an exploratory experience of Teams.
